Dental Implants

To be able to replace a missing tooth with something almost as good as what God gave us is truly remarkable.

The evolution of dental implants since their widespread use began in the early 1980’s has been truly amazing. Today dental implants can be placed in less time than it takes to fix a cavity. It is generally far easier, faster and less traumatic to put a dental implant in than it is to take a tooth out.

Dental implants are also extremely versatile. They can be used to replace a single missing tooth or to replace an entire mouth of missing teeth. They are stronger than natural teeth and with proper care will last indefinitely.

Dental implants in our office are placed by Dr. David Levitt. Dr. Levitt has placed over 7000 implants and lectures all over the United States and Canada on implant procedures. He is a guest lecturer at over ten universities. He is a pioneer in the same day implant procedure now widely taught at most dental schools.

Have you lost a tooth or several teeth? Do you wish you had a chance to regain a full radiant smile? Then you've come to the right place! Here at Old Town Orange Dental Group we want you to have a beautiful and healthy smile, even if you have lost some teeth. Our practice offers the best restorative solutions for missing teeth, using dental implants to replace your missing teeth. Dental implants are small screws or abutments that are placed in your jawbone to act as roots for replacement teeth. The implants are made out of titanium, which provides a strong foundation and can bond successfully with the bone. Implants can replace one single tooth, a few teeth or a full mouth restoration. Implants are now also being used to provide greater stabilization for dentures and dental bridges without having to utilize adjacent teeth to provide support to the devices. Dental implants even look more natural than other restorative options, so no one will know it is not one of your natural teeth!

Implant Procedure:

  1. Dr. Levitt will examine the state of your teeth, gums, and jawbone
  2. Dental X-rays will be ordered to evaluate your jawbone and see if you are a candidate for implants
  3. For some patients, bone grafts are needed to rebuild and strengthen the jawbone before an implant can be considered
  4. The implants are then surgically implanted into your jawbone and left to bond and heal with the bone. It can last between three to six months, depending on each patient’s healing process.
  5. Once the implant has successfully bonded with the jawbone and healed, the replacement teeth are screwed to the implants

All-On-Four Implants

All-On-Four implants are the latest procedure that uses implant technology to replace a full set of teeth using only four implants. Similar to normal dental implants, the four implants are made of titanium; they are slightly longer than regular implants, and they are attached surgically as well. Two implants go on the back of your jaw, while two implants are placed at the front so provide greater stability for your replacement teeth. The advantage of this procedure over other replacement treatments is that it requires fewer implants to be placed, so the procedure is not as invasive and usually won't require you to get bone graft treatments. The All-On-Four treatment was designed to get around the healing time which was often three to six months for regular implants, which means you can have your replacement teeth placed straight away!

Good oral hygiene is strongly recommended to avoid infections and your implants to last longer. In the case, your replacement teeth suffer a chip or a crack, visit your dentist so a restoration can be performed on your replacement teeth.
